CHCMD Approves New Member Agencies
Community Health Charities of Maryland represents 57 statewide and regional member agencies in the 2013 workplace giving campaigns, including the following new organizations:
- Advocates for Survivors of Trauma
& Torture provides case management and mental health
treatment to adults living in Maryland who were tortured in their country of
origin for political, religious, and/or ethnic reasons.
- AIDS Research Foundation
(amfAR) supports innovative AIDS research; educates patients, doctors, and the
public about HIV prevention and treatment; and works to protect the rights of
all people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Lung Association is "Fighting
for Air" and saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung
disease through advocacy, education, and research.
- Brigance Brigade Foundation works to equip, encourage, and
empower people living with ALS.
- Childhood Obesity Alliance for a Healthier
Generation strives to end childhood obesity and inspire young people in the
United States to develop lifelong, healthy habits.
- Children’s Tumor Foundation
funds research, patient support, and public awareness of the neurofibromatoses (NF1,NF2,
and Schwannomatosis), genetic disorders that cause random tumor growth
throughout the body.
- Shepherd's Clinic is a
volunteer-driven organization offering Baltimore's uninsured access to
affordable, comprehensive care including primary, specialty, surgical, mental
health and wellness services.
- Tourette Syndrome Association of Greater
Washington supports those whose lives are affected by Tourette
Syndrome; advocates on their behalf; fosters community understanding; and
educates medical and education professionals, employers and peers.
